Sitters for the portraits provided samples of their hair, which was sent to a laboratory for DNA analysis. Each subject received two reports. One mapped the geographical origins of their matrilineal ancestry as far back as 15,000 years. The other provided their genetic “fingerprint,” that part of their DNA which makes them unique. Partial view of DNA report is shown in second image.
